UK CitySlicker Marianne: Vintage Fashion in Nottingham

Love vintage? UK CitySlicker Marianne has some recommendations for where to get your fill of shoulder pads and chintzy prints in Nottingham!

I was so pleased when Lomography asked me to write about fashion in Nottingham because I’ve wanted to show off our vintage chapter for a while now. We have some lovely vintage shops located around Hockley in the city centre that I encourage any visiting or local fashionistas to check out!

What’s really great is that each of these vintage shops have a slightly different appeal. Firstly, I’ll start with Braderie on Pelham Street. They sell both original vintage and new independent labels as well as some vintage themed gifts.

Their men’s section is worth a visit as they have top condition Ralph Lauren, Fred Perry, Hugo Boss and Harris tweed constantly restocked starting from only £15.

Also, even more importantly, they stock vintage cameras!

Next up, you must visit Cow on George Street.

One of the Cow staff who kindly put an outfit together for me!

Cow has the widest range of original and reworked vintage, so there’s bound to be something for everyone!

Endless vintage!

Their reworked line of shortened skirts and tailored shirts is great for those who love vintage prints but still want to keep their overall outfit looking 21st century.

If you’re buying for a special occasion, then look no further than A Vintage Obsession on Goose Gate.

A beautiful unique handpicked dress

Fueled by Verity Mason’s love of vintage, she opened, manages and hand sources all her stock so this shop is great for those who don’t have the time to trawl through tons of racks.

A Vintage Obsession’s unique appeal is their stock of exquisite designer vintage, you can expect to see the likes of Chanel, Gucci and Karl Lagerfeld gracing these hangers! Right now they have original vintage from 30’s to the 80’s but by next month they will have a reworked line.

They also sell jewellery, and some accessories

Now, if you’re feeling guilty after all that shopping, head on down to the White Rose also situated on Goose Gate. They stock vintage homeware and some cute handmade gifts and accessories, but they’re also a charity shop supporting the Aegis Trust so you can feel good about donating whilst you shop!

Also, keep an eye out for the Nottingham Vintage Fair on the 22nd April for great finds all under one roof! (For more details check their Facebook Page)

Don’t worry if you don’t live in Nottingham but you like the look of these shops, you can buy online from Cow and A Vintage Obsession at
