I love spring. In fact, it’s one of my favorite seasons. Trees and flowers are starting to blossom, the evenings are getting lighter, and summer is only around the corner. With this in mind, I thought I’d share this little nugget of pure Springtime-loveliness for when any of you happen to wander down to the West Country.
On the 1st of May last year, the historic West Bradley Orchards near Glastonbury opened its gates to the public. This lovely orchard is where the very tasty Orchard Pig ciders and apple juice are produced, and for one day only, welcomed families and pets to come along and enjoy games, food and flavorsome beverages.
For a couple of pounds, we were allowed into the orchard and sample some of their scrumptious ciders, their piggin’ hog-roast (with homemade apple sauce), take a ride on the tractor and listen to live music. Then, just when you thought you couldn’t fit anything else in, we were treated to afternoon tea with scones, jam, and clotted cream along with a lovely cuppa. In addition to the edible delights, there were games organized for the kids. While I was rather disappointed we missed the welly wanging, we did manage to catch the tug of war.
Having sat in the orchard, soaking up the sights and sounds (and maybe just a couple of cheeky pints of cider), we made our way out of the orchard but on the way, we found these lovely fellas (and their mum)…
Feeling rather guilty following our hog-roast, we took our full tums home, smiling to ourselves having had a thoroughly lovely day!
