Party Hearty in Hongae at Theatre Zero and Rolling Hall

Hongdae’s night life is some of the best that Seoul has to offer and Super Color Super regularly puts on some of the best nights in Hongdae and the rest of South Korea.

Having lived in Korea for the best part of two years we have sampled much of Hongdae’s night life and we can safely say that Super Color Super always put on a good show.

Berlin-based Siriusmo played in Rolling Hall in June 2011. His unique blend of electronic dance music was well received by all and we were lucky enough to meet the man himself afterwards. The supporting act, Go Go Star, was a strange blend of electro pop and goth rock and was very entertaining. Getting to Rolling Hall is easy, just exit Hapjeong station via exit 6 and take the 5th turning on the left, Rolling Hall is by the Family Mart on the left. You can also leave Sangsu station via exit 1 and take the first right to get to the same place.

American electronic musician Dan Deacon also played at Rolling Hall in January 2012. It was a hugely popular event and the venue was packed with expats and locals all getting down together. Dan Deacons’ unique style and audience participation was a great treat.

British act Max Tundra played in Theatre Zero back in October 2011. Getting there is easy as it’s directly opposite the Lomography Seoul store. Just Exit Sangsu station via exit 1 and do an immediate U-turn to your right, go straight up this road, and take a left up a small hill just in front of the the Hongdae Children’s Park then the next left and it will be on your right.

Theater Zero is a cozy underground cube with a balcony running round three sides looking down into the club. Bands usually play in the middle so patrons can have a 360 degree view of the act. We’ve seen several bands and artists there and it has always been a good night.

Super Color Super works hard to bring quality acts and original nights to Seoul and the rest of South Korea.

Camera Collections: theonlydrp's Vintage and Handmade Gear

Some lomographers prefer to hoard as many analog cameras their shelves and budgets can support. Some would rather keep a manageable number that they can regularly shoot with. Community member Joshua Kennedy belongs to the latter group. From 40 cameras, he downsized his collection to 13, as he puts it, "really good ones" that suit his shooting habits and style. In this interview, he breaks down his small yet dependable arsenal of vintage and handmade cameras and how an organized schedule allows him to shoot with each one on a regular basis.
