The Smithsonian Institution’s award-winning, monthly magazine, hosts an annual photo contest. Voting is currently underway for their 2011 contest where 50 finalists were chosen out of 60,000 submissions from across the globe.The 5 categories finalists were selected for are Altered Images, Americana, The Natural World, People, and Travel. One of the photos chosen is a Diana F+ shot! Can you spot it?
Above is a gallery of some of the finalists. We asked if you could spot the Lomograph, chosen out of tens-of-thousands of entries. It’s actually the first photo, “99 Cent Dreams”, snapped up in New York City.
There will be 5 category winners, a grand prize winner, and one recipient of the receive the Readers’ Choice Award – the only prize administer by the public. Voting closes March 30th and winners are to be announced early in Summer. Cash prizes are what’s in store for the winners and for those who didn’t have a chance to participate this time round, submissions for the 10th Annual Photo Contest are currently open and will close on November 30, 2012.
