Lei Yue Mun is famous for its delicious seafood. If seafood is the only impression you have of Lei Yue Mun, please follow me and my La Sardina as we show you more facets of this fishing village!
Upon stepping onto Lei Yue Mun, one will see Sam Ka Tsuen Typhoon Shelter and many traditional fishing boats berthed there. This is the right ambient that got me into my weekend shooting mood!
After passing by the seafood market, one can proceed to Sam Ka Tsuen. On a rocky outcrop of the typhoon shelter, there is a lighthouse. You can even walk to the lighthouse during low tide and enjoy the beautiful sea view. If you climb to the top of the light house, you can even see an endless panoramic view.
If one walks further into the fishing village, one can reach Ma Wan Tsuen, which is also where Tin Hau (Goddess of the Sea) Temple is located. As the fishermen believe that Tin Hau can protect them from storms and accidents at sea, most HK fishing villages have a Tin Hau Temple. Next to the temple is a viewing terrace where one can enjoy the nice landscape!
If you wish to spend a romantic moment with your loved one, the dreamy sunset scenery and atmosphere will take your breath away! Unfortunately, I had run out of film by sunset. But its okay as I will have another perfect excuse to revisit this peaceful fishing village!
