Over 600 cars from Model T’s to Hot Rods came to this year’s Western Springs Galaxy of Cars vintage car show. I dashed down with my La Sardina when the exhibition came in February to capture the action. Check out the sweet rides!
Aucklanders and New Zealanders have a love affair with their cars and each year, Galaxy of Cars celebrates this.
All the cars on display are privately owned and come from all over Auckland and beyond. The range of cars spans British makes like Minis to Japanese models like the Nissan Z.
A brilliant covers band were there this year playing rock classics from Pink Floyd, the Police and Doobie Brothers amongst others.
This year, the most special cars on display were American muscle cars. They stole the show in their many forms. Examples from a variety of manufacturers were there like Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge and Trans Am.
I decided to maintain a theme and specifically chose these cars to photograph, using La Sardina for her ability to get as much as possible in a shot and as close as possible. And, as I wanted to feature both the cars and the logos or design elements of interest, I wanted a camera with an MX (multiple exposure) switch.
Check out the sweet rides!
…and for those of you less keen on multiple exposures, here are some of just the cars!
…the rockin’ close ups!
Two special mentions go out to best movie car of the day: Herbie!
…and funniest number (license) plate.
