The Artist - First Silent Film to Win Oscar in over 80 Years!

And the highly acclaimed film didn’t snag just one, but five golden statuettes at the 84th Annual Academy Awards. This must be ‘the’ year for silent films, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it! So, snuggle up to your grandma, who will probably pull your ear for insinuating she’s old, and celebrate as loud as you can without using any words!

The Artist took home the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius, Best Actor for Jean Dujardin, Best Costume Design and Best Original Score. You can see an ecstatic Dujardin above, and even Uggie, the Jack Russell Terrier that plays the lead character’s dog in the film, on stage accepting the award for Best Picture!

Dujardin deserves the congratulations as he’s the first French actor to win an Academy Award for Best Actor in a leading role!
