Panchao Beach

Most of the beaches here in the tropical island of Philippines always come in good hands — nice place, cool cottages, great getaway, food treats for everyone, and could head-shot your wallet.
But not with this one, I think.

Panchao Beach is just located in the northern part of the Negros Island. I once went over in this place last November. It was roughly a nice place and while we were on our way, we were expecting a whopping 50 bucks for entrance, some cash-in for the place to stay and so on.

Arrival after some 1 hour and a half from Bacolod City. We were surprised when we were greeted with this caretaker (her name as far as I recall is Judith) who watches over the beach for quite some time. We asked for an entrance fee and what-nots, and she said there are no “fees”. Everything can be “as is” as long as we enjoy!!!

It’s a great place actually! White sand, check. Sunny place, check. Little boats to ride on, check. Foods? Wait. I told you earlier there are no “fees” and that would mean no cottages, no huts, hotels or just any places to stay. Most likely, that would also mean no foods. The good thing about the trip is that, we brought some goodies along with us. A tent if ever we would be staying overnight.

Come 6:30 PM! We were planning to stay overnight so we forked up the tent and placed our bags inside. I was dipping my toes in the beach and playing with my PSP when suddenly, Judith the caretaker asked us if we are going to have our dinner. I told her that we brought some foods and goodies to munch up over the skew of the night and she told us “there’s a little restaurant somewhere around 300 meters away and if you want, I will be preparing some foods for you”.

Now this is what I am talking about. We went there, the place was called Punta Baybay and the foods were actually cheap. Cheap to say, but for Judith, she treated us! We ate a very very good dinner. Crabs, talaba (oysters) and some sea foods to name a few.

It was indeed a great place to stay! Sleeping inside the tent was cozy and relaxing. More like, it was “the best things in life are free”!
