1

Multi-lensed cameras does not only double or triple the fun of analogue photography but makes it our best kind of friend when it comes to taking hilarious and stunning Lomographs!

Just like how our featured Lomographer this week treats her Lomography Weapon of Choice, the SuperSampler - a friend to run to and all along be crazy with! Hey, that’s what a SuperSampler can give! So come and read as Ira or more known as palkina in the Lomography Community shares her love with this wonderful camera!

Name: Ira Palkina
Lomography Username: palkina
Weapon of Choice: SuperSampler

Why is this camera your Weapon of Choice?

SuperSampler is like a very special friend that suddenly comes to you one perfect sunny day and says “Do you mind if i stay at your place for a couple of days?”. He tells funny stories and turns everything upside down. He breaks the furniture and teaches your cat to speak. He’s very unstable and childishly enthusiastic. He has so freaky character that sometimes looks absolutely defenseless. But who makes the totally unexpected, always funny and so necessary for you pieces of joy by one movement of the hand? Yes, it’s my Weapon of Choice.

What is the country you would love to take Lomographs in the future? Why?

Iceland for sure. It’s a huge repository of endless beauty and space.

It could be your favourite film emulsion, a cheap plastic toy camera or the most fun accessory you have and they are your Weapon of Choice! Want yours to be seen here next week? Then just drop us a line at jason.delosreyes@lomography.com and you’ll get to show everyone what your Lomo snaps are made of!

The SuperSampler, the queen of multilensed cameras, is now in black. It takes four sequential panoramic shots on a single, action-packed 35mm photo. See all SuperSampler colours and designs in our Shop!

Dora Kontha makes the familiar worthy of a tribute. She frames icy weather or glinting water so that it looks boundless, more than a spread of pretty blue. Analog photography, her medium of choice, makes these everyday sights as intimate as memory itself.

Cinematographer Michal Dabal on the Petzval Lens

Here’s what happens before we interview a photographer. We gush about the work though we have yet to find out the cameras and processes behind the brilliant composition or the light architecture. And even when they haven’t used a Lomo camera, we feature them anyway. But every once in a while comes a pro who uses one of our premium lenses at work and our fun cameras off-duty. This makes us mighty glad, more so when their images are good and worth sharing. We count cinematographer Michal Dabal's work among them.

    Eugenia Loli's Surreal Collages

In the hands of those capable wielding it, art can be a powerful weapon. With it, for one, creation of fantastical realms far removed from the one we live in is entirely possible. Through collage making, Eugenia Loli builds such worlds that invite the audience not only to marvel at them but also, and most importantly, to see through the hodgepodge of images to find meaning and formulate interpretations.

Doug DuBois on My Last Day at Seventeen

Doug DuBois spent five summers photographing the small neighborhood of Russell Heights in Ireland to capture the essence of coming of age: the inevitable loss of youth and the imminent transition into adulthood. Those four years resulted in his latest book, My Last Day At Seventeen. The book is a visual tale told through a collection of photographs and gives an alternative perspective through a comic narrative around the same subject. This creative combination of two distinct narratives in one book not only works wonderfully in visual terms; it also serves as an essential tool that lets the reader dig deeper into the story being told, making one go back to the book over and over again, yet from a new perspective, every single time.
