Thousands of tourists and musicians will flood into the capitol of Texas this March for SXSW – one of the world’s largest music festivals. There will be plenty of opportunity for Lomography buffs to exercise their analogue knowledge. But what about the hundreds of newcomers who have no idea what Lomography is all about? We want to use your photos to teach the teeming crowds of tourists and locals how to get close, shoot from the hip, and forget about the rules! Submit your photos of downtown Austin, east side food trailers, local music venues and your favorite lonestar spots. We’ll pick ten winning photos that exemplify the 10 Golden Rules to exhibit during SXSW. What a great opportunity to share your love for Texas and Lomography!

So, what are the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography?

1. Take your camera everywhere you go.
2. Use it anytime, day and night.
3. Lomography is not an interference in your life, but part of it.
4. Try the shot from the hip.
5. Approach the objects of your lomographic desire as closely as possible.
6. Don’t think
7. Be fast.
8. You don’t have to know beforehand what you captured on film…
9. …afterwards, either.
10. Don’t worry about any rules.

Details:

  • Photos must be submitted by February 29, 2012.
  • Upload limit: 10 photos
  • Minimum photo dimensions: if chosen, please be able to provide the winning photo at least 6,000px in width.

@Mephisto... it's so we can eventually print them for the exhibition! To submit to the contest the sizes you already have on your LomoHome are fine. If your photo is chosen however we will need them at 6,000 pixels to print. @WonderDude... you know how we be : ) BTW... AWESOME photos so far guys! Just 14 more days to submit!

so i guess I'm so super analog that i can't figure out how to enter. i see the area where it says "Enter this competition - you have submitted 0/10 photos so far". then below that "Hold on, we are loading your photos". but that's it. where do i click to submit my scans?

The submissions process, unlike their cameras, is not idiot proof. I am having the same problem. There is a field that says "enter any search term and press enter" that sits right above the place that looks like it is for images. I tried "car keys" and "brown sock" and the search produced no results. I've also tried copying and pasting my images in the black boxes and that also doesn't work. Perhaps, I've celebrated too many birthdays to be able to figure it out. I contacted Lomography and was directed right back to the page with which I was having trouble. Hey guys, this isn't a push the shutter and advance the film kind of issue. Under the "Details" heading it would be nice to get some details on how to submit your images or perhaps some suggestions about a "search term" that would get you further down the road. <{B^) No, I'm not a pinhead.

apparently you need to first go to Home > You > Lab, then upload photos. then they should be available for entry into the contest when you come to this page. thank you to the Lomo Austin store for walking me through this!

Yes, I was in the same remedial class and have now submitted my entries. . It was almost as easy as release shutter, wind film, repeat.

Hahaha... sorry you guys were having problems! Yes, upload photos into your LomoHome using the lab, then they are available for submitting. Huge jump in submissions so looks like everyone is making headway. LOVING the photos!
