Where do you go when you want to reunite with nature? If you don’t want to spend much and go out of town, just visit Rizal Park and recollect a part of our country’s history.
Rizal Park a.k.a. Luneta Park or simply Luneta in colloquial terms, is a historical park located in Manila, Philippines, along Manila Bay. It is where the Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal was executed back in December 30, 1896. At present, it is home to various Filipino Martial Arts groups especially on Sundays, and a place where you can have picnics with your family and/or friends on Sundays and holidays. It is also where the Independence Flagpole, the highest flagpole in the Philippines that stands 107 meters can be found.
To get there, take the train to U.N. Ave. station and walk a little to reach the park.
There are several attractions that can be found in Rizal Park like the Chinese and Japanese Garden, Lapu-Lapu Monument, The Orchidarium and Butterfly Pavilion, The Relief Map of the Philippines, and many more.
And while strolling around, you may get hungry and a little drained. But don’t worry! There are several food stalls and stores that surround the place where you can grab some bite and drinks for cheap.
