My Lomo LC-A Story: It's Part of My Life

2012-02-01

Hello Lomographer! Let me tell you my LomoStory with my LC-A. How do I start, why and who brought me into this world?

Back in 2008, I met a great friend named, Shammy, her passion was Lomography. It was the first time she snapped my pictures using her Fisheye and Lomolitos cameras. At first, I was wondering what exactly is a Lomography camera? Apparently, the camera looks like a toy. So then she introduced me to Eastmoe, my current-so-called sifu.

During that time I was still studying in UK and we only had a chance to keep in touch through IM. After a long thought, I bought Fisheye2, my first lomo camera on May 2009. After a year had passed, I had added another collection of cameras; UWS and Lomolitos.

But then, in April 2010, one of my friends lends me his LC-A and I fell in love with it. The effects and the colors made me want to buy one. So, I decided to grab LC-A on September 2010 from Russia. To make it more attractive with striking appearance, I asked Eastmoe to repaint my Lomo LC-A.

Now, LC-A is my most favourite camera that I would bring wherever I go for traveling, walking, events and hanging out with friends because the size is very small, light, handy and fits in your handbag.

I remember when I was in Brussels; the shutter was suddenly stuck and can hardly use it anymore during the whole vacation. It totally drained my mood to zero. However, a truckload thanks to Roger Lean for helping me fix it.

The LC-A produces a very stunning picture that catches my eyes and makes me deeply in love with it. Through LC-A, I can express my feelings and share the happiness amd sadness that could portray a thousand different impressions. It is part of my life. Without it, my life would be so boring.

The Lomo LC-A+ RL has all the features we know and love, authentic Russian lens, and a back that’s now interchangeable with the Instant Back+. Explore analogue possibilities with the LC-A+ RL!

How to Develop Photos on Stone in a Darkroom

I have always loved the idea of seeing my photos on stone and other natural materials. So, a few months ago, I began googling how it could be done. This is how I discovered (and fell in love with) liquid emulsion. Liquid emulsion is photographic emulsion which you can melt down and paint on any surface. You can then expose an image and develop it using traditional darkroom chemicals. In this article, I would like to explain the process a little, so that if you are also interested in giving this fun process a go, you can!

Long Exposures Around Europe with the Minitar-1 Art Lens

One of the things I like the most about the Minitar-1 Art lens is how sharp the focus can be when you shoot with a small aperture. So if you are one of those that like to shoot at night, get a tripod, add this to a late dark winter afternoon, and you will end up with a bunch of beautiful long exposures. This is what I did on my last trip to Europe.
