The Union Station in downtown LA is usually just a place you go to…to go somewhere else. Hundreds of people arriving and leaving, you don’t really notice it much outside of its usual purpose: it’s just a train station. But here’s what I think, it deserves a much-needed second glance.
After being stuck for a quite a while in Union Station, I was forced to notice its beauty. There is so much in it that is mostly left unnoticed because people are usually in a hurry not to miss their trips while some would just prefer to sit on their comfortable couches and read or surf the net to pass time. Exploring it was a right decision – it was beautiful. It didn’t feel like a whirlpool of noise and bustle at all, like most stations are. Or maybe we just caught a good time. Either way, it’s quite a nice place to have been to.
Upon arrival at the station, we were welcomed with columns of LA’s lovely palm trees. California’s palm trees have always been a personal favorite and there are quite a lot in Union Station so it was a truly pleasant experience.
If you have to wait for quite some time, it would be a lovely idea to go to the oh-so-pretty patio/garden area and just wait there. My best friend and I just had coffee and enjoyed a good conversation under one of their umbrellas. What a lovely way to pass the time.
With the flowers, trees, and the lovely setup of the station, we didn’t mind waiting at all.
The station also has a charming clock tower. This has got to be my favorite part!
We never really got to go to where we were going, so Union Station became our destination. I don’t regret that even one bit.
