“Greenery”, the first thing that came across my mind is a big open field. Whenever I get to see a big patch of green field on a sunny day, a smile will be seen on my face! My favourite patch of greenery would be Kranji War Memorial which is a place with a historical background.
The Kranji War Memorial is located at 9 Woodlands Road, and it is a walkable distance from Kranji MRT Station. It was built to remember the courageous men and women from United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, India, Malaya, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, who died to defend Singapore and Malaya during the invasion of the Japanese Forces in World War ll. Taking a walk around you will see the War Graves, the Memorial Walls, the State Cemetery, and the Military Cemetery. The Memorial Wall represents the Army, Air Force, and Navy and there are 24,000 names of Allied servicemen whose bodies were never found.
I like this place a lot because the green that I got from the big patch of grass gives my lomo shoots a very nice contrast. I can relax and take my time to shoot and enjoy the sunshine at the same time and let myself to have a chance to know more about the history of Singapore. I would strongly recommend this place to lomographers out there and please bring along something to drink as it is kind of hot there and there are no drink stalls around.
