Artists Baptiste Debombourg and Raphael Vella are currently holding a joint exhibition at St. James Centre for Creativity in Valletta, Malta. Find out more about it after the jump.
In Aux Armes, Raphael Vella is showing two series of drawings.
Previously shown in Nakagawa Gallery in Tokyo, his “Big Boys” series of portraits is based on old photographs of boys who went on to become famous religious leaders, politicians and even terrorists.
The second series by Vella consists of drawings of images of women in burkas appropriated from internet sites that sell the burka as an item of fashion.
Paris-based Baptiste Debombourg is exhibiting various works including numerous meticulous drawings from the series “Tradition of Excellence” which consist of building plans shaped like various guns (or vice versa).
Also on show is the monumental “Triumphal Arch,” a recreation/mockery of the Paris Arc De Triomphe made out of card board boxes.
