Newcomer of the Week: Ellierose1989

These fast times of image production and reproduction are repeatedly abused and misused. This could also be the reason why a little present of a keyring given to her by her Mum could lead to something very passionate as going back to the roots of photography!

How did you find out about the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

My Mum bought me a Diani Mini keyring for my birthday so I investigated the shop and found the Community from there. I decided to join so I could share my photos and see other peoples pictures. I love Lomography and it was refreshing to find some place where everyone else was as passionate and not just using a phone app!

Is there anyone in the Lomographic Society you look up to? If yes, who is him/her and why?

The person who really got me back into analogue photography was Lewis Chaplin. His images have “another-worldlyness” about them and he can see beauty in unexpected places.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

The only rule I have is sort of cheesy but I tend to live for each day and try to make the most of it. Don’t worry about what other people think, if it’s something you enjoy or want to do then just do it for yourself… within reason I suppose!

In this digital age, why still film?

I do have a Canon EOS 1000D which takes beautiful photographs but I just prefer the excitement of analogue. You never really know what you’re going to get or how it’s going to look entirely and I love the unexpected light leaks and quirks. It gives the photo more personality.

Share your current favorite Lomograph (could be yours or a friend’s) and explain why it is your favorite.

I’ve been browsing the Community a lot and there’s one photo that sticks out. It has a mixture of perfection and imperfection and the contrast is incredible. It’s not my usual type of photo as I usually like portraits but I think it deserves a mention! It’s Lake Cruiser by adirak.

Newbie, rookie, neophyte or whatever you call them, our new breed of the ever-growing band of Lomographers are set to conquer the analogue land with their brand new hip-shooting abilities! And this is where we feature them along with their wistful thoughts and the freshest snaps each week!
