Tell us something about yourself.
I have this weird obsession to be different from other people. That’s why I chose Lomography. Same goes for my taste in music. I don’t listen to repetitive mainstream songs on the radio anymore; instead I find bliss in head-crushing sonic assault they call metal music and its’ subgenres. Now I have found a way to combine these two interests through my “Rock Lomography” project.
How many Lomographic cameras do you have in your collection?
To date, thirteen cameras. My lucky number.
Since you are a film camera fanatic, why Lomography Colorsplash is your favorite among all?
While the LC-A is the best all around camera, I feel that the Lomography Colorsplash is the perfect instrument for my analogue pursuits in “Rock Lomography”. It’s a fact that small-time venues aren’t equipped with stellar lighting. However, the camera’s bulb mode with flash turned on allows me to capture available light sources and then bombard the subjects in colourful luminosity. The end results will be a unique snapshot that embodies the energy of the performing bands in action. Lomography Colorsplash camera is also great for sunny outdoors too, especially when coupled with a positive film.
Which of your own Lomographic shot taken by Colorsplash is your favorite and why?
If I have to choose one, I’d say the photo of Haruhisa Takahata, bassist for Japanese death metal band Defiled. Though composition is rather off, his Kitaro-like looks and gesture to the audience makes it priceless.
