Meet the Staff of Lomography Gallery Store East London!!

3

As we turn 1 year old, we thought it was time that you all got acquainted with the gals and guy at Lomography Gallery Store East London!

They advise you on the difference between the Diana F+ and the Diana Mini, they take your film for processing, they will make you a cup of tea if you ask nicely, they give the LabRats a hard time, they will give you free beer on Blue Hour every Thursday, they know the directions to Brick Lane(across the street), they know all the atm locations within 1 mile and can explain all about that age old question, “what the hell is Lomography?”

They are the staff of Lomography Gallery Store East London!

Ahhh!

Meet Gemma, Manager and Irish. Loves her LC-A so much that she has three and hates giving directions.

Svala, Assistant Store Manager and Icelandic. Has a penchant for wearing heels to work and hates giving directions.

Lee, Sales Assistant and has Hugh Grant hair. Hates being likened to Hugh Grant and could sell an LC-A+ to an Eskimo…or something.

Rebecca, Sales Assistant and makes an ace gingerbread man. Happy to give directions, not so good at being asked how many megapixels our cameras have.

So there you go, the lovely staff of Lomography Gallery Store East London! Befriend their LomoHomes and be sure to drop in and say hi…we’d love to meet you!

Estonian Intersections of Sight and Sound

Would you rather lose your vision or your hearing? As photographers, we might choose the latter without a second thought, especially while viewing the festival photos that photographer Mart Vares captured with the New Petzval 85 Lens. Still, who doesn’t love the pleasant mechanical shutter sound of an old SLR that makes us commit to analog photography? While following the Nordic delegation at this years Waves Central Europe, we caught up with the Estonian band, Würffel, whose songs leave us feeling equally delighted.

    Trusty Bags for Trusty Cameras

We spend copious amounts of time stalking camera forums and researching specifications that "hunter" seems a more fitting term than "collector." And yet, when the time comes to pack all this game—the new or thrillingly ancient cameras—we DIY padding on the spot. (Guilty of trying to avoid the unappealing gear bag from the department store.) Last year though we stocked up on camera bags that are as cool as they are protective. Here are some of them.

The Art of Picture Taking: An Interview with Filmmaker Catherine Dauphin

At the time of its inception, photography was considered less a fine art and more a scientific method of reproduction. But anyone who has dabbled in the craft will argue otherwise; that there consists a very specific artistry in the photographic medium. We spoke with Luxembourg-based filmmaker Catherine Dauphin about her thoughts on this wonderful art form. Join us as she answers some of our questions about film, photography, and her short film titled "The Art of Picture Taking."
