Moby’s ongoing project called Mobygratis offers free music downloads to use for non-profit film, video, or short projects. More info after the jump.
Moby (whose real name is Richard Melville Hall), is an American musician, DJ, and photographer. He is popularly known for his sample-based electronic music. He is also an active, outspoken person supporting various political views such as veganism, animal rights, as well as left-wing politics to name a few.
Being a charity advocate for a series of causes, he launched MobyGratis.com, one of his projects, which gives free music downloads for independent films and shorts as long as they’re non-profit. However, if the music is planned for use in a commercial film, the website offers easy licensing and portion of the money generated from the film will be given to The Humane Society.
This is a great opportunity for filmmakers both amateur and professionals to get free music and give something back, especially with the LomoKino making waves in the modern analogue world. You can now add good music (from Moby, no less) together with your motion picture projects!
You can visit the website here:
