Graffiti Travels: NYC

Graffiti is not only an art, it tells a story. A huge hobby of mine is photographing graffiti whenever I travel. From Dublin to Florence, Miami to San Francisco. Here is my collection of New York street graffiti!

A big hobby of mine is both traveling and photography and when I put the two together, I find that I love to photograph graffiti from all over the world. So here is a collection of my graffiti travels from the Big Apple.

My all-time favorite graffiti spot has got to be 5 Pointz in Queens. I make it a point to try and get out there at least once a month to check out any changes or new pieces. Without fail, there always is, as 5 Pointz constantly invites the best artists from all over the world to tag up their walls. Last trip I got to meet two artists who traveled all the way from Brazil and Spain to show NYC what they got.

Another great adventure I had was loaning out a Sprocket Rocket through a workshop that Lomography Greenwich Village offered, and taking it with me on a historic walking tour of Lower East Side graffiti. I got the best of both worlds that day. Some amazing shots with the Sprocket Rocket (which I had never tried before), and got to know a little bit more about what the local influence street artists have in the LES.

I would recommend the streets of NYC to any art or photography lover. Every piece is unique in its own right. I would start with either the Lower East Side, Soho, and the Bowery Mural on Houston and Bowery, or take the G or 7 train to 5 Pointz in Long Island City, Queens.
