Speak Loud to Kodak

Slogan of Campaign: “Save EB3, Save Kodak, Save Our Analogue Future”

Referring to the Kodak’s notice in 11-11-11; they will be stoping the production of Kodak Elite Chrome 100 (EB3) by the end of 2011. I think nobody here wants to see this bad news come true.

We were too passive in facing the end of production of other films in the past. This time, Kodak is cutting on our BASIC NEED – Elite Chrome 100 (EB3). It will be a disaster to the future analogue market. Here’s my statement to Kodak:

Please listen to your customer’s voice! In official Facebook pages, many customers speak to your company; our essential need for slide films/color reversals is Elite Chrome 100 (EB3).

Its sales in many of film shops is the greatest among all slides. If you end EB3’s production, most of the people will just choose to use cheaper negatives, but not E100VS/E100G/EBX, because many users use EB3 for cross processing. The results of X-pro in EB3 are great and irreplaceable.

Please keep on producing EB3, and try to use a new selling point; i.e., good for “cross processing” and sell it to more people, attract more people return to analogue photography!

Someone mentioned a fact on the Kodak Professional Facebook page, which is sad but true: “In digital photography, Kodak is nothing now.” Please tell all decision makers, don’t forget that the origin of Kodak is analogue photography.

It’s ‘Crisis vs. Chance’ time for Kodak. Make good use of advantages in the analogue market. Keep on producing negatives and slides for a different range of market; don’t make analogue for luxuries only. Produce new compact film cameras again, walk on a new analogue way again, and do not blindly follow the strategy of others. Fujifilm did wrong in stopping Sensia’s production. Many Fuji lovers changed and chose EB3 and ED3. But Fujifilm did right on producing new film cameras.

Disappointed? Save EB3, reconsider this critical moment, and save Kodak’s future. Be smart and acknowledge the fact that you are the loser in the digital market, and still staying alive and well in the analogue market. Don’t be stupid anymore.

...and then they go and kill my favorite E100G and E100VS too :(

@disasterarea I've just submitted an article about it, even it's mid-night time in my city. Wish Lomography will publish my article and let more film lovers take action. No matter blame or recommend Kodak to continue the production of slide films. This time, the production of Lomography X-Pro Chrome 100 will be affected too. (As it is a reformulation of EB3.)
