DIY Splitzer

Have 10 minutes to spare? Well maybe then you could try your hands on this simple but useful Do-it-Yourself Splitzer!

What you’ll need:

  • Mounting board
  • Super glue
  • Cutter
  • Scissors

Step 1:
First off, measure the diameter of your lens. For the Diana F+ I measured roughly 5cm. Divide it by half and you’ll get your radius. Take a ruler and measure 2.5cm for your compass.

Step 2:
Take your piece of mounting board and with the compass, draw a circle.

Step 3:
Cut the circle out with a pair of scissors.

Step 4:
Now with another piece of mounting board, measure and draw a rectangle with the dimensions 1.5cm x 15.5cm and cut it out. This will be the strip surrounding the cover.

Step 5:
Wrap the strip around the cover and apply some super glue where the both ends meet. Also apply some around the edges to secure the strip to the cover.

Step 6:
Now I made a mistake of sticking the strip on the cover first before cutting the hole out which is a bit more difficult but still doable. It would be wiser to cut the hole out before the stick the strip on but nonetheless, this was how my process panned out.

Step 7:
Go out and shoot some photos!

You could get some tape and tape it around the outside to secure the strip better but that of course is entirely up to personal preference.
