Worlds Lomographic Piece LomoWall – Grand Opening in Lodz

2011-11-03

It’s common knowledge that every piece of the world taken by a Lomographic camera is part of something big, but now it’s part of something bigger! It’s part of Worlds Lomographic Piece!

We are proud to present the largest Polish, Lomographic exhibition – comprising a grand 20,000 photos that make up Worlds Lomographic Piece (the word Piece a homophone of “Peace” which in Polish is “Pokoj” and also means room).

Our Grand Opening starts on the 4th of November at 6 p.m!

First, we would like to show to the world "what the hell is lomography” by preparing workshops for those who don’t know what it is all about. We will then proceed to open the doors to our room filled to the brim with photos which will literally be everywhere – on the windows, floor, walls and furniture! We’d like to end the vernissage with a bang, with concert in which one of the best bands from our city will be performing! That’s right, none other than Overhood!

We would like to thank all of the lomographers who sent their photos to the Rumble for Lodz’s Lomography Meeting 2011 – without your help our world wouldn’t be complete! So be sure to stay tuned for the winner announcements coming soon! In the meantime, here are some photos from the submissions gallery.

    The Infallible Electric Eye

By far the oddest-looking camera I own, the Electric Eye is an auto-exposure viewfinder camera made by Bell & Howell in the late 1950s. I picked one up online and ended up with another one, that came with a very cool, retro looking carrying case, from my grandfather. It took a little while to try these two out but after running some film I found that this camera is a lot of fun to shoot with.

This talented photographer was awarded in 2014 by the special mention of the young fashion photography Picto Awards. In her shots, Solène drives us to an enchanted world. For this series, she used the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens and she's telling us the story of a woman who is waiting for someone or something in her small theater and who decides to venture to the morning mist. “It is the uncertainty that charms one.
