Just two weekends ago, on a lovely sunny autumn day, I was lucky enough to be in Central London for the Lomo Workshop taking place at Vinopolis. Lucky for us, the event was all about…chocolate!
Meeting after lunch, six of us met at the Lomography Gallery Store, Soho for an LC-Wide demo and to collect our lend-a-camera and film. We then made our way over to Vinopolis, which I have been told is more popular for its wine tastings and night time scene than chocolate but it is an absolutely huge venue and great for hosting events such as this.
Chocolate Unwrapped is a 2-day event as part of Chocolate Week, which you can read more about here. Any event where you get to have a go with the LC-Wide and try free samples of lovely chocolate is a good event in my book and Chocolate Unwrapped did not let me down.
There was a lot going on to photograph – a man making chocolate ice cream with just a bowl, rose petals in a chocolate fountain, decorating demonstrations, and a chocolate graffiti wall. Plus there was a lot to sample as every different stall in the place was trying to get your business. We had the aforementioned rose petals, chocolate with lavender in it (tastes like those old parma violet sweets in case you were wondering!), coffee beans covered in chocolate, and in true Vinopolis style – a chocolate flavoured pudding wine.
Despite leaving this event feeling full to the brim and ever so slightly sick, it was a great day and a great opportunity to have a practice using the LC-Wide – even if some of the group members were totally incapable of winding it on successfully (that’s you @helcraig!).
The Lomo LC-Wide boasts the newly-developed 17mm Minigon Ultra-Wide Angle lens. This 35mm camera wonder is the perfect companion for your photo expeditions.
