Easily one of the most recognizable landmarks in New York City, Rockefeller Center is a hub of activity.
Right in the heart of midtown Manhattan and a stone’s throw from Times Square is Rockefeller Center, the largest privately held complex of its kind in the entire world. It spans two avenue blocks, about twenty plus acres, and hosts a number of tenants that might sound familiar.
Rockefeller Center is home to Radio City Music Hall, the GE Building, the Time-Life Building, to name a few, and plays host to tenants like NBC Studios. If you watch any tv, the setting ought to look a little familiar: 30Rock films here on a regular basis, as does Ugly Betty, the Today Show, NBC News, and Saturday Night Live.
You never know who you’re going to run into, and it all depends on the time of day: morning brings news personalities like Matt Lauer and Brian Williams, maybe a sneak peek of Meredith Vieira. If you have a keen eye you might see a cast member of SNL like Andy Samberg or Kristen Wiig, not to mention Tina Fey filming outside of 30Rock proper!
A modernist architectural masterpiece, Rockefeller Center embodies the spirit of New York with its monumental art, its legacy of entertainment, and its access to the heart of the city via the subway.
