I finally got around to trying out the Lomography Color Negative 800 film. I did not get disappointed.

A while ago I was looking for a missing lens, and while I didn’t find that lens, I did come across a roll of Lomography Color Negative 800 film that had been sitting in a box in my attic for years. With a few concerts coming up, I decided to finally put this film to use.

First came the concert of Beukorkest (Stuurbaard Bakkebaard! Johnny Dowd! Brilliant!). Combined with the excellent automatic shutter timing of the Olympus XA, this yielded some pretty good pictures. Vibrant colors, very acceptable sharpness (considering the jumping and dancing people around me…). All in all, it perfectly captured the atmosphere of the evening for me.

Next came a trip to Leeuwarden, for a visit to the annual Freeze Festival, with lots of local Frysian bands, plus some international acts (Fryske Cash – Johnny Cash songs in Frysian! Triggerfinger! Brilliant again!). Here I took some pictures in the daylight as well, both outdoors and indoors. The results were not bad at all.

But the real strength of this film is in the low light situations. The festival gave me more great concert pictures, with colors leaping of the picture and grabbing you by the throat. The film really shows off the colored lamps at the concerts:

Next concert I go to, I´ll know what film to bring!
