Missiri Mosque

Two kilometers from the center of Frejus (south of France, Var) on the road to Bagnol (D4), you will find a replica of the Great Mosque of Djenne (Mali, Africa). It was built in 1930 by the Senegalese infantry based in Frejus. Of course, it is smaller than the original, built in concrete instead of banco, and abandoned, but with its red walls and decorated towers, it like a tiny part of Africa shinning among the pine trees.

It’s controlled by the French Military of Defense, but you can visit it in summer and in September, during the Heritage days (Journées du Patrimoine).
