I think anyone who comes from a big family craves isolation, be it having the house to yourself or sitting on a mountain top on the other side of the world. I need isolation to think, to cry, to explode, to create, to breathe and above all want to have company.

Two-faced - that is the best description for our Photo of the Day. Two faces of one yet probably expressing something particular. It sure is interesting and captured in lovely analogue! (POTD 01.16.12)

Using Colorsplash Flash and cable release Photos were taken in landscape with the LC-Wide as it was the safest way to do a self-portrait. The photos were then cropped and joined together in Photoshop. Photos taken for the Mugshot rumble

    shared by hodachrome on 2011-12-07

I was living in Kyoto, one of the most popular area especially in autumn red leaves season, in my early twenties. But didin't know a lot about photography then. Since I started lomography my strong desire for KYOTO WITH LOMO has been geting bigger and bigger. ( I haven't seen any lomographs of Kyoto ever!) In this autumn I finally could visit there with LOMOs and enjoyed just one day lomowalk. Needed 3 days more at least! I had nice time anyway :)

  • Home Made Film Mask - Heart <3

    shared by mafiosa on 2011-06-09

These double exposures were taken by first inserting a home made film mask in the shape of a heart into the camera. The first layer of exposures represent snapshots of Tupac from a music magazine, my award winning sundae cupcakes, and some spring blossoms. The second layer was taken of various random things around the city.

Here is the color stuff I shot of Anna's crazy, insane eyepatch woman outfit. Can I tell you how much I love shooting her? She knows EXACTLY what to do and nails it. I asked her to in some shots to "pretend you were someone who was trying to be sexy but they didn't understand the concept. It is alien and unfamiliar to them." She owned it. The shots where she is being 'sexy' are so uncomfortable to look at you gotta look away.

I love, love, love Lomo's Redscale film. I really do. I wanted to do a set with JoAnn that would highlight this versatile and extraordinary medium and all that it can do in the realm of glamour and nude portraiture. So I fed it lots of reds, yellows and greens at golden hour and couldn't be happier with the results. I got the playful, warm happy vibe I want from my portraiture and it was definitely in part due to this rad film.

  • The 1000 tori shrines in Inari, Kyoto.

    shared by susielomovitz on 2010-11-30

Fushimi Inari was founded in 711, and is the main shrine of a complex which trails all over the Inari mountain. In Japan Inari is the patron of wealth, and so the entire complex is worshipped by businesses from around Kyoto and beyond. In order to receive good fortune local businesses donate 'torii' which are traditional Japanese gates meant to mark the transition from the profane to the sacred. Fushimi Inari now has many thousand of these Torii all around the mountain, each one bearing the name of its donor.
