2 years ago I got me a Holga with a roll of medium format slide film which I can’t recall but I remembered it was a bit expensive. It’s probably a roll of Kodak slide film. But anyway I don’t know how to load the film and it didn’t even occur to me that there was a youtube video about it. I just went some place not too bright, unroll this alien roll of film and just hope and pray that I didn’t screw up! I kept advancing the film but I simply didn’t know when to stop! I was scared I missed the mark on the first shot but I just kept going till suddenly the shot stopped at no.2! Well, what do you expect I was naive and inexperienced but I just took that as a learning experience and started shooting away.
I used the 12 shot frame, finished the roll in Johor Bahru and sent it to Triple D to be developed. I was told there’s an infamous guy called Uncle Mike who owns the store and is helpful and friendly to all who sent their rolls there.
The next day I came to collect from Uncle Mike and he told me that only 4 shots made it out of the 12! He decided to print the shots out for me instead of scanning. Gosh the disappointment was unbearable. I’ve never uploaded these shots to LSI before so I’m sharing my newbie shots with you now coz hey we’re all friends here. :)
But I’m not one to give up so easily so I tried again on another roll and this time I used the 16 shot frame on a roll of Kodak EPP 100. Love the colors on this one!
In Lomo-land, things may not be perfect, we may screw it all up, it may burn a hole in your pocket but one must never give up. Just dust yourself off and try try again!
