  These images are some snaps I took during three months in South Africa (mostly Jeffreys Bay and Cape Town), Kenya, and Zanzibar. Some images were shot on my little toy 120 Holga and some were taken with my Canon F-1 35mm. While in South Africa I taught photography with an arts and surfing non-profit called Aleph Surf International. When I wasn't teaching photography to lil' surfer kids - I was pushing kids into waves and snapping photos of the surf sessions.

  I'm so happy I got this camera... My dad was an avid photographer, but in the early nineties he suddenly stopped taking pictures, I don't know the reason... He gave his beloved camera away to my mum's brother. When my dad passed away this March, my uncle gave it "back" to me. <3

  I am really not very happy with the BelAir camera and am kinda regretting that I bought it. Not only did the physical camera fall apart on me a few hours after I took it out of the box but the lenses are also not very good. I like the idea of it's format flexibility, though, and I might buy some of the glass lenses... maybe I can get better results then...

• Testing the 114mm Belairgon Glass Lens

  The lens looks great, focusing is smooth and easy, and seems to have a good sharpness at f8 and f16. More test rolls to come ....
