week 33: black, white, lubitel

so, you remember how i wrote about wanting a lubitel, but getting myself a holga instead? (week 14: holga, holga! ) yeah, yeah. i had a lot of good reasons, but still i couldn’t resist the latest offer from lomography and purchased myself a lubtitel 166+. damn! i mean yay! ;)

as you can see i’m still torn between “damn, so much money” and “yay, lubitel”. i’m aware that the lubitel is still a pretty cheap medium format camera (compared to a hasselblad for example) but nevertheless it costs as much as all my other analogue cameras combined.

however, the camera might be worth it. last week i shot the first roll of film in my new camera and i absolutely love the results. these are only some quick test shots, at the danube river, after work, but they turned out really great:

so sharp! see? :)

i’m not really used to the viewfinder yet, but I will manage after some more practice. aside from that i’m really happy about all the settings the lubitel offers. finally a camera that allows me to set the aperture and the shutter speed any way i want and doesn’t tell me what to do.

i can’t wait to shoot the next roll. and many more :)

check out my first lubitel album here: black, white, lubitel.

Wow... I had my Lubitel 166U built in the 80s for a handful of euros... Too expensive on the Lomo site.

@rewd yeah, you're absolutely right. some stuff is way too overpriced in the lomo shop. but the camera was -30% and i had some piggies to spend... so it was kinda tolerable.

@rewd but getting it for only a handful of euros would have been even better of course. lucky you! ;)

I am ever so tempted to get the Lubitel but think it indeed is on the expensive side (worth it or not) One of these days I'll have to get over that! ;-)
