  • the left from the eruption

    shared by gendis on 2012-11-04

5 November Signs of the eruption at Mount Merapi managed to puncture the persistent cloud cover over Java on 5 November 2010 when this natural-colour image was captured. Merapi erupted strongly early Friday morning. Volcanic ash fell at Cangkringan district and its surroundings 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from the crater. Due to continuous large eruptions, the BNPB extended the safety zone to a radius of 20 kilometres (12 mi) and Yogyakarta's airport was closed again for 3 hours in the morning. Residents who were within 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) of the summit were asked to leave and seek a safer place.[33][34][35] Volcanologists reported the eruptions on Friday 5 November to be the biggest since the 1870s and officials announced by loudspeaker that the mountain's danger zone had been expanded to 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the crater.[36] Bronggang, a village 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the crater saw its streets blanketed by ash up to 30 centimetres (12 in) deep. By this point, more than 100,000 people had been evacuated and the scientists monitoring the events were withdrawn from their posts to a safer distance

This camera was given beautiful new re leather bellows and a complete CLA by Certo6 here in the US. For US folding camera collectors, Jurgen Kreckel in PA is the go to guy for repairing and refurbishing folding cameras. Sooner or later you will run into him on Ebay or through Google searches. He did a marvelous job on this one and has fixed numerous other cameras for me........as for the location of this roll, the Three Sisters Sanctuary in Goshen is an amazing spot. The owner is a guy named Richard and he built these amazing sculpture gardens as a tribute to his three daughters, and in particular to one of his daughters who died tragically several years ago. He runs a cast iron stove repair business and is a dedicated junk collector so the gardens (which are open to the public) are a fantastic combination of old iron, monumental stonework and whimsical creations of all sorts. It's a colorful place and a he's a very interesting artist. There is even a small stone amphitheater on the property and notable musicians such as Arlo Gutherie have given small intimate concerts here.

  • Perutz 100 Chrome very very very expired

    shared by freshmeat_omd on 2014-03-19

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... :D

    shared by honeygrahams224 on 2017-03-06

A few pictures I took of a friend this winter. I used some very old "homelife" brand film, which I suspect is actually Konica. It was very difficult finding days with enough direct sunlight to take good double exposures this winter, as it seemed overcast for months straight. I usually use very expired film, so I need all the light I can find.

  • Going Under (Svalbard #11)

    shared by wil6ka on 2016-01-29

It might have been the hardest photographic conditions ever in the polar station of Ny Ålesund. Because of the polar night in November, there was only glimpses of light around noon, Other than that only darkness and the lights of the buildings in the worlds northermost settlement. I was taking my free saturday to walk around and to take shots. As i was limited to only little weight on my trip, I had to decide which cameras i can take. For panoramics I decided for the XPAN and the very wide wide wide 30mm lens. Because I knew I had to expose the hell out of the frame, with swing lenses you just have a limit on exposure times. For the landscape picture I might have exposed the picture up to 4 minutes. But it was cold and windy and did I mention cold? So I had set the distance, the frame and aperture in darkness. I used a gorillapod with a release cable and because of the low level and the darkness I had to assume and guess the distance to the objects. I was a game of trial and error. I learned a lot. I am grateful!
