shared by lakandula on 2011-10-28A few weeks ago I posted shots of Baywalk and its habitues before two consecutive supertyphoons hit the Philippines. Recently I had the chance to revisit the place. The coconut trees are still standing there - all accounted for. The statues are relatively unscathed. But definitely the unwelcome visitors had wrecked havoc as evident in the destroyed rampart, missing lightpoles and many vanished tiles. With harsh waves taller than the cocounut trees at the height of the ravage, I was expecting to see much worse. Portions of the once cheerful walkway on bright sunshiny days has turned now into piles of sandbags as temporary barrier as reconstruction is in-progress. New tiles have arrived and piled one on top of the other - waiting for their turn to find their niche in the whole rebuilding scheme. While the number is less than usual, habitues are slowly coming back. Bikers, joggers, fishing hobbyists and ambulant vendors are gaining presence - including some homeless people. These are definite signs of life in the baywalk that survived the torture of tropical cyclones. Looking forward to seeing it anew!

shared by lakandula on 2011-11-06Went on a photowalk with fellow photography enthusiasts at the Manila North Cemetery. We reached a fenced area where small Philippine flags were stuck into the ground beside the tombstones and crosses. We were told its a heroes' cemetery. A friend brought out pieces of cut-out Bob of the 'Have You Seen Bob' project. I took one as a subject which I shot in different angles at different crosses and tombstones.

shared by lakandula on 2011-01-11During a lomowalk with California-based lomographer Ceduxion, we visited Fort Santiago after walking around Binondo and having a hearty lunch at a Chinese restaurant. Took lomographs of the statue of the Philippine national hero Rizal against sunlight. Doubled the shots with random items found at home like candies and bottles of Body Shop products placed on tabletop .
