Expired Film Follies

I saw that the drugstore brand of film was on sale so I grabbed up a handful and looked at the boxes. One expired box. “Further discount!” I think to myself. I mention it to the cashier who promptly takes the box and tells me apologetically they don’t sell expired products. I want it though. She calls a manager who repeats the store policy. They don’t sell expired products. I offer to take it for free (I read that in a tipster…hehe) if they can’t sell it to me. Still no. I point out that it’s not like I intend to eat the film. The manager says in a somewhat authoritative tone “At this point your pictures wouldn’t even turn out.” I giggle and say that I’ve shot film that expired in the 1980’s that turned out just fine. Disbelief on everyones face. Still no.

If I hadn’t said anything the cashier would have rung it up and I would have been on my way much faster but I would not have had the opportunity to educate a cashier, manager and a lot of other customers who, up until tonight, did not know film expired.

Thanks for the sympathy @hervinsyah & @asharnanae. It was more an experiment in human behaviour than anything.
