On December 31st we went to Geysir – an enormous geyser or sprouting hot spring in the southwest of Iceland. We were told there is an eruption around every 15 to 30 minutes, but it may even take up to an hour. Luckily we didn’t have to wait that long to see an eruption. As it was freezing the boiling hot water froze within minutes, leaving a ice-rink on the footpath.
My boyfriend was iceskating on the ice and I decided to take a picture. But as I clicked the shutter – only a few minutes after the previous eruption – there was another eruption! Nature really has its own ways! Looking back I am very happy to have captured the eruption, although at the time we weren’t too happy to be drenched in near-boiling water. Luckily neither us or my Kompakt was hurt and we got to capture this at perfect timing :)
