Let Me Be Clear

Lately I’ve been toting around a lot of gear. This is what happens when you’re an obsessed LomoHead like me I guess. That gear may be mostly plastic and fairly light in weight but there sure is a lot of it and there’s more and more goodies all the time.

Anyhow, I’ve got all sorts of cameras and all kinds of accessories for those cameras. It’s really bad with the Holgas and Dianas not to mention the LC-A. I’ve got wide angle attachments, fisheye conversion lenses, telephotos, Superwides, Tunnel Vision, closeup lenses and a Mini Teleidoscope that fits into the LC-A like it was made for it. Also there are all the Holga color filters and prism crystals not to mention all the special eye pieces for the lenses above.

It’s all cool stuff and there is nothing like having all these creative options at your fingertips when you’re out on a shoot somewhere. Until….you can’t find the darned things because they are all in little black bags that look alike. There’s nothing worse than missing a great photo opportunity because you were fumbling around looking for that lost piece of kit in the bottom of your bag somewhere. Don’t ask me how I know this…grrrrrrrr!

Now, I have quart size and gallon size Ziplock bags here at home and I snag a few from the kitchen sometimes for photo duty. They do help because you can clearly see what is in the bag. And they are great for separating cameras in a tote bag for instance so that they don‘t scratch each other up. They aren’t terribly thick though and they lack a certain cool factor.

So here’s what I’m thinking. Maybe if we all ask nicely, the folks at Lomo will consider putting out a line of clear bags for us. I have seen nicely made heavy duty drawstring bags made out of slightly stretchy material before so I know they exist. Sometimes you might see such a bag with fancy bath accessories for instance.

It would take a little research on their end to make it happen but it would be so nice to have clear vinyl or siliconized bags that said LOMO on them and that let you easily see the contents at any time. If Lomo had a couple of sizes and maybe a few super duty 4-6 mil Ziplock ones as well it would be great. I bet they could sell thousands of them as yet another essential piece of kit. Just another thought.

oh I can understand you. I carry in my big bag two small bags around with me. One with camera/s and one with small parts for them. I searched like crazy. and give up at the end. :D
