My MerdekaRaya

5

Raya eve
During the hari raya eve, as usual my siblings gather at my home. Suddenly my brother took out few firecrackers from his cars. The butterfly firecracker , dragon’s egg, and even the rocket firecracker. Those are harmless as we don’t want anyone to get hurt and my niece and nephs are still young :) The ‘takbir raya’ echoed all around the place. The deep meaning of the ‘takbir’ , the warm voices of those who sang them touched my heart. I felt the taste of victory after restricting myself from doing all the wrong things during Ramadhan.

Yaya loves the sparkles so much
The butterfly firecracker – it spins and produce a very strong yellowcolour.

We are so excited :P

The best thing is when the kids in the opposite housing areas burn their fireworks

My mother refused to let me buy one as its around rm30 for 16 shoot
I myself don’t think it’s a good invesment though :P
I prefer buying myself two rolls of slide

First day of raya
The next morning , we dressed as beautiful as we could. Normally men wear baju melayu and women wear baju kurung. Different design , patterns and colours. Before performing our prayer , we sat together and eat nasi tomato (tomato rice). After that, we went to ‘musolla and mosque’ to perform our prayer. We were warned by ‘imam’ that despite we celebrate aidilfitritoday , we shall not neglect all the deeds that our religion thought to us and we should carry on the ramdhan spirit throughout our whole life

As usual after performing prayer , my family and I began forgive and forget ceremony which is the best part of the day. We shook hands and kiss our parents hands asking them to forgive our wrong deeds through out the year. Tears rolled my dad’s cheek , he’s more sensitive than mom , everyone knows that :P After that , we shook hands with each other and the young ones (niece and nephs) line up to receive ‘duit raya’

Brand new jewel in our huge family – ain with his grandpa

Then , my sister suggested that why not we visited our long time neighbour or friends? By car , we went to our old neighbours houses. My brother sensed somethinmg wrong with his car as the back of the car produce cricking sound. Luckily he use tubeless tyre and managed to go on and finally we stopped at a tyre shop. The uncle said that the tyre’s fine and luckily there’s only one small nail stick to it but it’s not dangerous

The uncle inspecting the tyre

He also wish us Selamat Hari raya (Happy Aidilfitri)

First we went to our grandma’s nephews house
They serve mee soto ( mee+chicken+special soup) , such a tasty food and I myself manage to eat 2 bowl of the mee soto :P

Upin Ipin brothers :P

Aiman and Haikal loves everything related to Upin and Ipin

Lastly , we went to Tok Wok’s house. She had a pretty sad life. She raised all of her grandchildren all on her own but in the end they left her alone. Reminisce her old time , she did all kind of works just to send them to school. She lives in a small house a piece of land that was donated by someone that lives in the same village. Her life was organized by her sister and her husband :’( Such situation left me thinking whether will I face the same fate in the future?

Mom and Tok Wok were neigbour once. Mom thought that she most probably 100 years old now

Second day of raya
My brother in law said that we should have BBQ on second day of raya. My brother from Sabah celebrate his first raya at my sis in law’s hometown and he came back on the second raya. It’s such a blissful occasian. Lots of foods and drinks. Chicken , beef , sausages. The not so good stuff is my nieces and nephs always stole sausages as the tray is near to them

As we can’t finish the satay on the first day, we kept it in freezer and reheat them
BBQ for all!!!!

Third day of Raya
My dad’s brother’s family coming to our house. Mom’s struggling in the kitchen as she was bit shocked with the unexpected visit. Mom cook simple foods and serve them the best she could. BTW my dad’s brother’s have 14 grandchildren , so you can imagine the situation there :P

Dad’s cooking – something uncommon and we managed to witness it in front of our eyes :P
Half of the visiting family

Fourth day of Raya
We visited my dad’s village. Rompin. First , we stopped by dad’s late mother’s grave. Just to pray for her and we’re hoping that she’s watching us from heaven :) Then we went to my dad’s bros and sis houses. Having fun eating ‘lala’ (edible sea creatures)

Cemetry’s scenery
The ‘aladin lamp’ is one of malay’s traditional water container

The water inside it used to wash hands before and after eat :)

Fifth day of raya
Gathered with my friends in the primary school and celebrate raya. Going to our ex teacher’s houses and etc

Always in memory

I had a blast during the Raya holiday. How about you? *wink3

Just to show my love towards my beloved country, I shoot this during the first day of raya with the help of my niece. Thanks Lomography Malaysia for picking it as the winner of the celebrate malaysia merdeka day

I’m more than happy to receive my first ever win :)
