I fell in love with photography in 1987 when I graduated from university (for the first time). I used some money my grandparents gave me at graduation to buy a Canon AE-1 Program. I took that camera everywhere. After two more college graduations and a full-time teaching gig I finally found time to learn photography, taking a series of film photography classes using black and white film and darkroom processing. While there was a stuffiness to many of the assignments the professor encouraged me to expand my vision--he suggested a Holga--and another love affair began. Research on the Holga led me to look at other lofi cameras which of course led me to LSI. I also became interested in alternative processes such as cyanotypes, polaroid lifts and transfers, hand coloring, and others. Over the years I have acquired two Holgas, a WOCA 120G, LC-A refurb, fisheye, frogeye, Diana+, Vivitar UW+S a knockoff Action Sampler, and several other non-lomo film cameras. Most of these have been presents. I enjoy all photography and find great inspiration in what all of you are doing with your cameras. I recently lectured in a Photo II class on toy cameras and urged them all to join LSI. Well, thanks for reading this and helping me see differently.
