I’m a thousand different people–Every one is real
2024-03-15 – 2025-01-05 · New York, United States of AmericaTaking its title from a drawing by artist and queer icon Candy Darling, this exhibition brings together a selection of works recently acquired by the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art. Darling’s words evoke the multidimensionality of queer and trans life and artistic practices that insist on defining art and life entirely on one’s own terms. Taken together, the exhibited works–across various media and representational styles–embrace a spectral, prismatic approach to rendering LGBTQIA+ existence. Both contemporary and historical, the works elide the demand for authenticity and easy legibility, instead holding space for plurality, reinvention, and fantasy.

Binia Bill – Images and Fragments
2024-10-19 – 2025-01-26 · Winterthur, SwitzerlandBinia Bill (1904–1988) turned to photography with ambition and confidence. After training as a concert cellist, she attended the photography class given by Lucia Moholy at Berlin’s Itten School in 1930 and worked as a freelance photographer when back in Zurich. In 1931, she married the architect and artist Max Bill. To earn a living, the couple worked together on advertising commissions, for which she produced the images while he designed the typography and layout. In the years that followed, Binia Bill created a remarkable photographic oeuvre: Her portraits and still lifes are characterised by a clear visual language that is related to the aesthetics of the ‘Neues Sehen’ movement. Binia Bill’s interest in perspectives and surfaces, in playing with light and shadow, was combined with a very distinct sensitivity though, which influenced her view of objects, plants, animals and people.

Call for entries – Photography Contest “Nude Art Photography”
2024-10-28 – 2024-12-15 · Leipzig, GermanyPhotographers from around the world are invited to submit their artistic works on the theme of “Nude Art Photography.” Show your interpretation of the sensual, artistic portrayal of the human body – captured on analog film, without digital editing. The title Ungeschönt Wunderschön can be translated as Unembellished Beautiful or Raw Yet Beautiful in English. It reflects the concept of natural beauty without retouching or embellishment. The idea behind the phrase is to capture beauty in its most authentic, unaltered form, where the rawness and truth of the subject matter are celebrated. In the context of the photography exhibition, it emphasizes the unfiltered, genuine portrayal of the human body and sensuality through analog photography, without the need for digital enhancement. Selected works will be exhibited at the Analog Art Photography Gallery in Leipzig. The exhibition will take place in February and March 2025.
