Lomography X This Human World: Cultures Through Senses

Photographs are our gateway to places and experiences we could only imagine. Allow us to live vicariously through those immersive images of your journeys around the world.

Although it appeals mainly to our sight, the clear-cut details and vibrant colors of a photograph can be enough to fill in the sound, taste, scent, and feel of a particular moment or subject. A photo of an enthusiastic street drummer, hands tapping to the beat, will immediately make us imagine a pumping rhythm. In the same way, an image of a basket filled with flaming-red chilies can make you reach for a cold glass of water. Photography has that power to move us. For this competition, we're looking for arresting snapshots that will let us be a part of those memorable travels.

And to make this round more exciting, we teamed up with This Human World, Vienna’s first international human rights film festival, to give you a chance to win festival passes, a LomoKino, and vouchers for our Online Shop. Now on its 12th year, the 13-day festival aims to explore the vast complex of rights and freedoms of being human and living as a community through screenings of local and international documentaries and short films.

One grand prize winner will take home two passes to the festival, happening on November 28th to December 10th, 2019 and a LomoKino. The second prize winner will get two tickets to the opening ceremony, while three runners-up will win a Lomography Online Shop voucher worth 50 EUR.

Each participant may submit up to 10 photographs. This competition serves as the qualifying round for the Breaking Boundaries category of our TEN AND ONE Annual Lomography Photo Awards 2019.
