Get ready, this is the first of many trips I have been making to the U of M Mattaei Botanical Gardens. They have an 80 year old American Agave, aka the Century Plant, that is getting ready to bloom and die. In nature the American Agave are normally found in Mexico and the American Southwest and usually will bloom when 20 to 25 years old and then die.
