    Porto

Take the road which goes northwards along the West coast of Corsica and after passing the Calanches of Piana you arrive in Porto. Administratively, Porto is a simple hamlet which depends on the village of Ota, situated higher in the mountain. Nevertheless, if Ota is unknown, Porto, on the other hand, and its exceptional site transformed this small village into a highly visited place. Besides a factory of 'Nacre' jewelery, the small town offers numerous expeditions of diving and its colossal (very windy) beach of black pebbles offers an open view to the tower of Porto. It was probably built in the second half of the 16th century, before the appearance of the round Genoese towers. The tower of Porto is one of the only square fortifications built on the coast, the place of departure for the visit of the nature reserve of Scandola.
