When you visit Barcelona in Spain, among the must-see destinations is the beautiful church that is the Sagrada Familia. I took a lot of shots here on a recent visit and the ones I think are the most striking are those I took in black and white with my LC-A+.

One of the most fun evenings I had on my recent holiday to Spain was spent at the bottom of Montjuic to the west of the city where we got to see the “magic” fountain and light show.

The beach of Sant Miquel just at the end of the area of Barceloneta (and often called Barceloneta Beach), is one of the famous beaches of Barcelona. Sure, many tourists are going to this beach in the summer, and in the middle of the afternoon it's really full and difficult to find a place... But if you go there early in the morning (8.00 am or after 7.00 pm) or in the late afternoon, you'll have the beach almost for you alone :).

Parc Guell is perhaps one of the most beautiful parks I have ever visited. Of course the beautiful sunshine, palm trees filled with exotic green birds, and panoramic views of Barcelona are the main reasons for this - and it is a million miles different from any of the parks in the UK.

I found myself visiting Barcelona and this time, my feet were directed towards Montjuic. I had been there previously, but this time was different. The underground metro stopped at the Espanya station and I climbed outside to Montjuic. How beautiful! The plaza is very large, there is a lot of traffic and the Palace of Montjuic is there, lying on the hill, watching how everything below is taken care of.

The Encants Vells Market is Barcelona´s biggest and at the same time, oldest flea market. With over 15,000 square meters of space and literally hundreds of little stands this is the perfect place to get lost with your camera.

The well-known Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is perhaps one of the last great "century's constructions" of a cathedral, and like in the middle-ages the construction lasts for over then a century now (since 1882!!) and it's still not finished... If you want the whole story about the Sagrada, have a look at the official website (link below) but if you're in Barcelona, you must go visit the place, and the best moment for me is during the night! Until midnight, the cathedral lights are on, and the place takes a different face from the day, much more impressive, the shadows and colours of the light gives you the impression of a living beast in the middle of the city: it's alive!! Turn around the whole building and it will change its face, staring at you at every moment with a different face! :) It's a fascinating experience to visit this huge building at night, very different from the day (but it's very impressing at daylight too!) and gives you the opportunity to make cool pictures, of course!

The hill and castle of Montjuic is really a place to see in Barcelona and a place where you can see the whole city with a unique point of view. Dominating the south-west part of the city you have the whole panorama over it on one side, and on the other side you see the great industrial installations of the port of Barcelona. Climbing up the hill is also very interesting because of the park of Montjuic and the Olympic installations from de Olympic Games 1992 (and specially the Olympic swimming and diving pool... do you remember the diving sessions where the athletes jump in the air with the background of whole BCN and the Sagarada Familia?).
