Bog Bath

Bog Bath

This wood tub is a Victorian bath. It was used for a special peat bog bath. The tub would be filled with water from the buxton spring and peat earth. It was meant to be good for the body but it must have been pretty horrible. The person taking the bath would drop through a trapdoor above into the tub below. Inside the tub is a stone headrest.
