   I'm far from an expert but looks like a moldy roll to me... Like an old film not stored properly???

   The film was recently purchased, as it happens. It wasn't stored in any obviously improper manner, either. The only thing I can think of is the fact that it had to travel through airport security scans, though I have heard that ISO 400 films should not be affected by this.
