Ensign 2 1/2 Box Form Camera

Circa 1915, this British made box camera produces 21/2 by 4 1/4" negatives (more or less). I'm sure they are fairly easy to come by in the UK, but this is the first one I have seen in Canada, so I had to pick it up.

Really cool find!!! For this sort of thing, guess ~F/12.5 for aperture, ~1/25sec or a bit slower for shutter speed. 1920ish? For 2 1/4 X 4 1/4, I don't know if 120 rolls still have the 1 to 6 numbers on the paper's edge for that. The light leaks could be from the red window. The camera originally was for orthochromatic film (only saw green light). Make sure the red window is covered for panchromatic films. Check out www.freestylephoto.biz for slow ortho films perfect for your camera. From ~9ft to infinity, this thing can probably take VERY sharp pictures. Enjoy. Herb
