I am part of a creative team that was tasked to produce an interactive exhibit on health as well as manage the events that go with the caravan in ten provinces all over the country. The caravan consists of a bus converted to a mobile maternal and pediatric clinic, an interactive and highly visual exhibit, health classes, immunization area, play area, pharmacy, registration booth, canteen, waiting areas and a small stage for programs. The whole caravan evokes a festive mood to encourage proactive health-seeking behavior among target clients who are poor and marginalized. The project recently had a national launch in Capas, Tarlac among indigenous Aeta communities coming from at least 16 sitios. Some walked for long hours from the mountains of Pinatubo. Awesome to see people of all ages congregated at the health caravan. Grannies tagging along their grandkids, mothers nursing their babies...all proactively seeking whatever health service was available for them.
