7 Acre Rock

Situated east of Melbourne, Australia in the Yarra Valley Ranges not far from a small town (called Powelltown) there is a track off a winding mountain road, which when you walk along it for a thousand metres or so, takes you to 7-acre Rock, a raised hill with natural rock formations exposed by the elements over the years and yet surrounded by the natural bush. Normally the area would be green with lush growth, but this area had recently been struck by severe bush fires so many of the trees had been burnt to the ground or had just charred stumps and trunks left standing. The white rocks juxtaposed with the blackened trunks of the trees made a stark, desolate yet strangely beautiful scene.
