A 52-Week Film Project Will Keep You Shooting

Here's one idea for a 52-week film project, you simply shoot and develop one roll of film, every week for a year. It will keep you shooting film throughout the year, saving you from falling into a photography slump. It will also allow you to experiment with your ever growing camera collection.

Photography projects are a great way to keep yourself from falling into the deep dark pits of a photography rut. Daily, weekly, or monthly projects are the best way to get yourself shooting, even when you don’t particularly feel like it. It’s a great way to keep yourself creative, experimental, and document your year.

What you’ll need:

  • A film camera
  • Plenty of film
  • A means to develop said film
  • A blog or website in which to post your project (Tumblr, Lomography, Blogspot, Facebook, etc.)

It’s simple to get started; just shoot! Shoot one roll of film per week. Go places you normally wouldn’t, photograph people you barely know, and make the mundane beautiful. Use a different film and/or camera each week. Try cross processing, damaging, double exposing your photos, or come up with a new way to add interesting effects to your pictures. Once you develop your film, post it to your blog. Keep going for 52 weeks, and do it again next year! If you’re really ambitious, and have the money to do so, you could also try doing 365 with instant film.

Get out there and flex your analog muscles!
