A New and Recycled Look for My Diana Mini

Attention Diana Mini owners, I would like to share my first experience on how I changed the look of my beloved camera. It's fun playing with you camera and be their private designer! Be proud and excited with your very own design!

I have a typical Diana Mini with Flash and I love it very much! But sometimes, I do crave for some customized design for my camera. I have been thinking of customizing a skin for my Diana Mini for a long time and now I finally did it and I would like to share it with you guys!

My customization this time is low budget and goes with recycled materials. It can be done in a short while, too. Just cut and paste as you wish.

1. Prepare the following materials:

  • Cardboard
  • Cutter / Scissors
  • Brown paper
  • String
  • UHU glue

2. Choose a design for your camera

I chose brown as my main color scheme. Since I’m going to use recycled materials, therefore cardboard became my main material. After that, measure and cut according to the shape, paste it and abra cadabra! It’s done !!!

3. For the strap

My camera strap is quite fine so I decided to use 3 strings of it to make a braid-like strap. Braid it any way you like. Snap your fingers and we are done.

4. For the lens cap

I used cardboard to make the lens cap, too. Just be creative. This time, I wanted to go with a simple and rustic look. I saw that a lot of people posted that they had lost their lens caps. I do think that reconstructing it with cardboard is a good choice.

Tada! We’re done! That’s how I changed the look of my Diana Mini for the very first time. From a typical design camera to a unique style that represents me.

The Diana Mini is the ultra-compact, petite version of the Diana F+. This camera takes soft-focused, lo-fi images in 35mm and allows you to change between half-format and square shots with a flick of a switch. Get your own Diana Mini now!
